WHY DO I WANT IT?
|
|||||||||||||
| What is True Variable Cadence? | |||||||||||||
| Every day, every minute we may decide to walk slow, fast, faster and even run. This means that we need to be able to walk/run at different "cadences" (or speeds). Our body naturally adjusts instantly to these different cadences. For an Above Knee amputee to enjoy the same freedom, he needs a knee that instantly & reliably adjusts to these diverse speeds: A True Variable Cadence knee! Many prosthetic knees claim to provide variable cadence, very few deliver consistently. | |||||||||||||
| How does it work? | |||||||||||||
| Today, it is universally recognized that only a knee with a pneumatic and/or a hydraulic fluid control can provide True Variable Cadence. Even a knee with the most advanced microprocessor needs such a fluid control. | |||||||||||||
| Beware of imitations! | |||||||||||||
| Do not automatically assume that a knee with hydraulic or pneumatic fluid control can provide all desirable speeds of walk/run. Many provide only a fluid friction control (walks only at one speed) which helps control flexion resistance without providing "True Variable Cadence". Again, the most advanced microprocessors with fluid control may allow for only a very limited variation in speed. | |||||||||||||
