Proper Edema Reduction after amputation can only happen when proper gradient compression is applied on the Residual Limb.
In a typical rehab setting, it takes a true expert to apply a compression bandaging with gradient compression throughout the leg. More than often the compression bandaging will eventually slip and a real expert for re-application is not on hand. Improper re-application will have disastrous results. The way to guarantee proper Edema Reduction is by using a properly sized DAW Edema Reducer. Many nurses worry about applying a "Stump Shrinker", that it might pull on the stitches and scar tissues.
